- How long have you been a member of CrossFit Northland?
2.5 years
- What brought you into CFN?
I started at CFN when I was 5 months postpartum looking for a way to get my life back. I couldn’t keep up with my kids and was at my heaviest weight ever!
- Tell us about your fitness/health background?
Throughout high school I ran track, was a cheerleader, and also did gymnastics. I loved my weight lifting classes built into my school schedule. I wouldn’t consider myself a star athlete but loved to move and be competitive. Home workouts just never worked for me as I couldn’t stay consistent. I need someone to push me. But I will say after being a part of CFN I have learned that self push as there are goals and progress that I would like to accomplish. They don’t happen without work so I’m slowly learning the self motivation to workout at home on off days.
- What are some changes you’ve noticed during your fitness journey at CFN?
Although the workouts never seem to get “easier”, I see myself getting much stronger! When I first started it seemed so overwhelming, but now I know if I show up and just try my stay is going to go so much smoother! I feel as though I have no restrictions in life, I get to run around and play with my kids without even thinking twice. It’s fun to not only play with my kids like a kid but also my nieces! I don’t dread it when my kids ask me to play with them or get up and get them something else!
- What is your favorite part of CFN?
The community is great, but I enjoy coming in and not having to think of the workout that needs to be done. There are days I don’t even look at the workout and before the session starts I am fully informed! The gym is a happy place for me! My kids also have learned how important going to the gym is! I now get asked daily “mom is it time to go to the gym?”
- What motivates you and keeps you coming back for more week after week?
You see results, simply by showing up and putting forth the effort! Seeing and talking to gym friends always makes it easier too! You become a family!
- If you could have one super power, what would it be?
If I could have one superpower I would like to have healing powers. There are so many ways healing powers could help others!
- What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone that is considering joining a CrossFit gym?
My best advice if someone is looking to join CFN, “just do it”!! But seriously, it’s as simple as showing up! You will be surrounded by an awesome gym family! The coaching staff does all the work not only with having the workout ready for you, but also watching out for your safety! You have nothing to lose but your old ways!
