A: I grew up being active playing all the sports with basketball being my fave. I’ve always enjoyed working out, mostly lifting weights but challenging myself with triathlons and half marathons as well.
Q: What are some of your favorite CrossFit movements?
A: Hmmm I’ve come to love power cleans/hang cleans. I love ring rows/bar work as well. I actually like front squats and thrusters too.
Q: What is on your CrossFit bucket list?
A: Handstand walks, any kind of muscle up. .lol
Q: What is on your general bucket list?
A: Traveling! Seeing all the beautiful places and lots of hikes.
Q: What is something most people do not know about you?
A: I’m kind of a tomboy….grew up a farm girl, i love fishing, I love power tools, I can hook up and pull boats and trailers with the best of them. Love photography… 🙂
Q: How would you describe CrossFit Northland to someone?
A: CFN is an amazing community of all ages full of different backgrounds, all trying to better themselves everyday. They lift each other up to make each other better in our health.
Q: What does “living life on your own terms” mean to you, and in what ways are you living life on your terms?
A: Living life on my terms is Controlling my own destiny….Training the brain and manifesting the outcomes and life you want. This is something we work on as a couple and are trying to teach our kids in reaching their goals they want in life. God has given us amazing bodies that we have ownership over. Living life how I want to live and not letting anyone else dictate my story. I want to remain strong physically to keep up with my kids and go on all the adventures with them. I want to be able to serve and help those around me.
Q: What do you enjoy most about CFN?
A: Surrounding myself with amazing people from all different backgrounds that all have the same goals of remaining strong and healthy is huge. Community and Positive surroundings is what helps make us successful. I love that the trainers know us, strengths and limitations, they know how and when to push you, and that for 1 hour I don’t have to think about anything else that is going on in life, just what they tell us to do. 🙂 My 1 hour workout per day is sacred, where I get to work on myself and fill my cup. My 1 hour helps me to be a better mom/wife.
Q: What motivates you and keeps you coming back week after week?
A: I love our community, great routine, Combatting Age with taking care of myself. Working out with friends ALWAYS makes me workout and train harder than I would alone.
Q: What PRs or accomplishments are you most proud of?
A: I’ve increased my weights in all lifts and I see the difference in my physique and feel it in my strength in everyday life. Functional Strength. Rope Climbs, Double Unders-Finally, HEAVY Lifts. Almost- Unassisted Pullups…
Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
A: Definitely Flying! Or the ability to just teleport somewhere in the world.
Q: What advice do you have for people just getting started with CrossFit?
A: Just take the step forward. One step at a time. Do not compare your results/lifts etc to others , unless you are competitive…then get after it. Lol Challenge yourself every workout one workout at a time and you WILL see results faster than you think. Feel the strength changes first. Physical changes will come. Every workout will be a touch easier than the last.
Q: What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone that is considering starting CrossFit?
A: Start on your own level. Every single workout will be a challenge…Even when you think it looks easy on paper….No matter what shape you are in. Find your community that makes you better.
